From the late 1950's on up to the early 1970's car manufacturers catered to a specific market by producing what are known as muscle cars. Following the launch and positive response of the Olds 88 other car manufacturers saw the value in putting V-8 engines under the hood of intermediate bodies to get a fast and powerful vehicle that typified America in the post World War 2 era.
