Morris History: Morris Motors started out in an empty college building in 1913 in England. They built a 2-seater and then a 4-door coupe before World War I broke out and managed to stay in business throughout the war. The Morris vehicles were known for their quality and business grew throughout the Vintage Car Era.
The first Morris Minor was produced in 1928 and in 1935 Morris bought The MG Car Company. Then, during World War II, they re-tooled to support the war effort.
In 1952 Morris merged with the Austin Motor Company to create the British Motor Corporation and in the 1980s Austin became part of the Austin Rover Group, a division of BMW. Then a consortium called MG Rover was formed and today Morris is owned by the Nanjing Automobile Group.
