Volkswagen Logo Volkswagen (VW) is the major part of the German Volkswagen Group and one of the biggest auto manufacturers in the world. Volkswagen, or the 'people's car' as it was called in Germany, began in the 1930s. The Volkswagen 'Beetle' was their most popular car, the result of Adolf Hitler's request of Ferdinand Porsche to design an affordable car. Volkswagen truck sales died in 1971 due to high import taxes adopted by the Johnson administration but the company is alive and continues to sells cars here. |
