Plymouth Logo Plymouths were advertised as mid-level vehicles but never sold very well. In the 1970s the Plymouth Valiant and Plymouth Duster were popular but the Plymouth Volare and Plymouth Horizon were the only two models remaining by 1979. Plymouth was a Chrysler brand and when Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz (maker of Mercedes-Benz) in 1998, becoming DaimlerChrysler and canceled the Plymouth line in 2001. Chrysler had hoped to grow the Plymouth line with the Prowler and PT Cruiser but when Daimler-Benz came on board and the Plymouth line was canceled they joined the Voyager as Chrysler products. |
