Pierce-Arrow Logo Pierce wanted to build a vehicle for the wealthy and the Pierce-Arrow fit the bill and sold so well that he changed the company name from the George N. Pierce Motor Company to the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company in 1908. The Pierce-Arrow became a symbol of wealth and was used by U.S. presidents. Studebaker bought controlling interest in Pierce-Arrow and changed the name in 1928 in hopes of competing with the Packard parts. However, when Studebaker went out of business in 1933 the Pierce-Arrow name was reborn. The Travelodge travel trailer was made by Pierce-Arrow from 1936 to 1938, when the company closed its doors. |
