Lamborghini logo Some people say that Lamborghini wanted to build cars because he did not like the clutch in the Ferrari . He produced the first Lamborghini, the 350GTV, in 1963 and sold 130 of them the next year. After the Lamborghini 350GTV came the 400GT, which was very successful and was the forefather of the famous 1965 Lamborghini Miura. Then came the four-seat Espanda in 1967 and the LP400 Countach, with the first scissor doors, in 1974. Lamborghini sold out to a Swiss investor and retired in 1978. Poor quality and less emphasis on motor sports gradually killed sales and Chrysler bought the company in 1987. However, financial troubles continued and Lamborghini became a subsidiary of Audi in 1994. |
