Kenworth Logo The Gerlinger brothers started to build logging trucks in 1914 but lacked adequate financing and sold to Edgar K. Worthington and Captain Frederick Kent in 1917, becoming the Gersix Manufacturing Company. 'Kent' and 'Worthington' became 'Kenworth' in 1923 and the next year produced 80 trucks. Kenworth became the first all diesel truck company the following year and were the first to produce a cab-over-engine in 1957. The Pacific Car & Foundry Company purchased Kenworth in 1945. |
