The Dodge Brothers, John and Horace, opened their Motor Vehicle Company in 1914. The brothers started out making bearings for other car companies including Oldsmobile and Ford. They made an upscale version of the Ford Model T in 1914 and started building trucks for the military in 1917. The Dodge brothers sold out to Dillon, Read and Company in 1925 and then sold to Chrysler in 1928. They became a subsidiary of Chrysler in 1928 and a part of Daimler-Benz in 1998. Dodge is now owned by the DaimlerChrysler company.
