Description

2007 Ford Mustang GT500 (Stock #427) This 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 embodies the passion of both Ford’s SVT division and the late Carroll Shelby, with performance, exclusivity and looks that result in the ultimate factory-built pony car. With 500 supercharged horsepower, a capable chassis and a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission, this instant classic continues to conjure historic automotive fantasies. The seller of this 18,678-mile example has listed several performance modifications that have been made and receipts are provided. In addition, a certificate of authenticity from Ford lists this as is one of 2,153 GT500 coupes built in Torch Red. POWERTRAIN Under the vented aluminum hood, the supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 is factory equipped with an air-to-liquid intercooled system to provide a denser air charge into the cylinders via the 32-valve aluminum cylinder heads. Performance upgrades, including a cold air induction system, overdriven supercharger pulley and a high-performance harmonic balancer, likely boost power output over the original 500 horsepower rating at 6,000 rpm and 480 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. An aftermarket McLeod dual-disc clutch links power to the original Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that all drivetrain components are free of leaks or smoke and perform as new. EXTERIOR Based on the images and statements provided by the owner, the Torch Red surfaces on this 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 are in original and preserved condition. The grille openings feature black mesh while the deeply valanced front bumper cover and prominent Shelby logos and SVT badges throughout promise speed and exclusivity. The white stripes that flow from stem to stern are just as they were when installed at the Flat Rock, Michigan assembly plant on April 5, 2007. The original alloy wheels sit on a staggered tire setup that features Mickey Thompson Street Comp tries, size 255/45R18 in front with Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S tires, size 285/40R18 in the rear, with 2017 date codes. INTERIOR The Black leather interior is said to be free of any significant or notable wear and appears as new. The bucket seats and door panels are listed as original while an aftermarket shift knob in red connects to the six-speed manual transmission below. A numbered Shelby plaque sits on the instrument panel while the 7,000-rpm tachometer that is emblazoned with the SVT logo houses the digital odometer that reads 18,678 miles. Ford’s Shaker 1000 audio system with its AM/FM/CD changer sits prominently below the leather-covered instrument panel. The seller states that there are no odors or stains present and that everything appears to be in good condition and all features operate correctly. CHASSIS This 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 retains most of its performance-calibrated suspension, including its original 34mm/24mm sway bars and performance springs. To bolster traction, the 8.8-inch solid rear axle has been enhanced with aftermarket control arms and adjustable shock absorbers. Brembo four-piston front calipers finished in black with 14-inch rotors provide prodigious stopping power and are linked to an aftermarket SLP line-lock kit. The seller states that there are no issues present and that the undercarriage appears to be free from corrosion. DOCUMENTATION This vehicle will be sold on a clean Rhode Island title in the seller’s name. Additional paperwork includes receipts for some of the performance upgrades and the original certificate of authenticity. This 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 features the same sort of outrageous power-to-weight ratio that made Shelby famous in the Sixties, but with all the creature comforts, safety and reliability we expect in a modern car.
