Roadsters

Roadstes are products of the classic car years, typically thought of as 1960 to 1972. The classic car years started with Detroit making a major shift from "bigger is better" to "smaller is more efficient". Automakers were not thinking of the roadster, they simply wanted to find lighter materials and make more powerful engines to increase the horsepower to weight ratio. The result was the muscle car, which begat hot rods and roadsters. More power resulted in higher speeds, calling for better roads and more roadside conveniences. Gas was relatively cheap, octane was high, and hot rods and roadsters were kings.
