Roadster

The term roadster refers to a two seat car usually without a roof, side and rear windows. The roadster had a retractable soft top while the coupes had retractable hard tops. The roadster and coupes were the beginning point for the American hot rod. The later models of the Model Ts and 1932 Fords are the most popular.

The early roadster was usually associated with the Indianapolis 500. The roadster was designed with the engines and drive shafts offset from the center of the car, which benefited the weight distribution for the oval track. By the end of the 1960s the AAA Championship roadsters were replaced with the more modern rear engined formula cars. Some of the most popular roadsters are listed below;
