Diamond T History (Continued from top)
Diamond T Logo With the help of his three sons, White gradually became interested in automobiles and they produced their first chain-drive, tiller-steered, steam-powered car in 1901. The White Motor Company was opened the next year and continued making cars until 1918. By the 1920s White was also building trucks under the names of Sterling, Autocar, Diamond T and REO. Diamond T and REO were eventually merged into the Diamond REO division, which lasted into the 1960s. White Motors built trucks with Freightliner through the 1970s and eventually sold out to Volvo in 1981. Of the 10,000 White Steam Cars made, only about 150 are left. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
