LaSalle History (Continued from top)
1936 LaSalle Coupe Alfred P. Sloan was CEO of General Motors when he decided the LaSalle would be the automobile to fill the gap between the Buick and Cadillac. The 1927 LaSalle was the hallmark design of Harley Earl, who become a vital part of the GM design team. His idea was to make the LaSalle a sleek and stylish roadster, smaller than the Cadillac and it was a major success. The Great Depression caused automakers to rethink their production and GM ended up producing only a few thousand LaSalles in 1932. However, they decided to build a new, less expensive, model for 1934 and sales rebounded, until they stopped production in 1939. | ||
