Peerless Motors began producing De Dion-Bouton "machines" under license from the French Company in 1900. As the Peerless evolved the quality was hight and it became known as one of the "Three P's" (Premium) that included the Packard and Pierce-Arrow. However their quality gradually fell and in the 1930's the company stopped making cars in favor of brewing beer under the Carling's Black Label brand of beer.
