Camping & Utility Trailers: Trailers have been around since the Antique Car Era. As cars begat gas stations and paved roads motorist found things to tow behind them. The first trailers were crude shacks on wheels but soon evolved into micro-homes and the owners were commonly known as "Tin Can Tourists". After World War II veterans found trailers to be affordable housing and materials were once again available to make them in mass.

Car haulers can be a simple two-wheeled "dollie" designed to hold two wheels of the towed vehicle while the other two ride on the ground; or a flatbed trailer that can be used to haul most anything; or a box trailer with room for tools and supplies; or a ramped trailer that can haul several vehicles at once.

Working trailers are typically made to hold tools and equipment in both a secure and easy to use manner. The idea is that they access their tools and work out of the trailer without unpacking everything.

Camping trailers start with the "teardrop" design that are little more than secure tents and end with mobile homes that are designed for limited travel and stationary use. Fifteen to twenty foot trailers are the most convenient to haul and store and therefore the most popular size among weekend campers. Travel trailers are typically connected with a simple ball type hitch and "fifth-wheel" trailers attach to a special plate in the back of a truck to improve load distribution. And truck campers can be anything from a simple shell over the bed of a pickup truck to the equivalent of a 15 foot trailer strapped to its back.
