Classic Cars
Classic cars were built between 1946 and 1972. The classic car years started with Detroit making a major shift from "bigger is better" to "smaller is more efficient". Automakers started looking for materials lighter than steel to increase the horsepower to weight ratio - which gave birth to the muscle car. A classic car with more power resulted in higher speeds, calling for better roads and more roadside conveniences. Gas was relatively cheap, octane was high, and the classic muscle cars soon begat classic hot rods. You will find hundreds of classic cars for sale in our classified ads and dozens of classic car dealers in the business directory.
Car enthusiasts and collectors love classic cars. Though the exact definition of what constitutes a classic car may be disputed by the Classic Car Club of America it generally consists of old cars made in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. During this time design was flourishing as manufacturers strove to differentiate their models from the competition. Cadillac, Ford, Chevrolet and Oldsmobile turned out car models that were distinct and could be easily identified. The Dodge Challenger had its E-body, the Ford Mustang featured long hoods and short decks and the Pontiac GTO sported a simulated hood scoop that made each unmistakable.
