Mazda Logo Mazda started in the machine tool business, called the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company, in 1920 and was producing vehicles by 1931. Production stopped for the World War II war effort but started up again shortly after and by 1960 they were a well known car and truck maker. The first Mazda truck was sold in American in 1972 and came with a V6 rather than their revolutionary rotary, Wankel engine. Toyo Cork Kogyo became the Mazda Motor Corporation in 1996 and was acquired by the Ford Motor Company in 1986. The Mazda trucks are referred to as the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth B-Series vehicles. |
