Rolls-Royce Logo Rolls and Royce bought Bentley Motors in 1931 and later started building jet engines. By 1971 Rolls-Royce was to far in debt so England nationalized the company, and then in 1973 the car division was sold so the company could further develop Jet engines. Volkswagen bought the Rolls-Royce and Bentley car division and BMW acquired the Rolls-Royce jet engine division 1998. Volkswagen continued to build both cars until 2002. The Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicle names were acquired by BMW in 1998. |
