Nash Logo Charles Nash's first acquisition was the Thomas B. Jeffery Company, makers of the 'Rambler'. Then, in the 1920's he produced the Ajax Automobile followed by the 'Nash Ajax Light Six'. His Nash Ambassador had one of the first synchromesh transmission in 1932 and in 1924 he bought the LaFayette Motors factory. Nash built the LaFayette from 1934 to 1937 and by 1941 he was making the first unibody vehicle in America. By the end of World War II the Rambler was the leader in the US compact car market. Nash and the Hudson parts Motor Car Company merged in 1954 to become the American Motors Corporation. |
