Jeep Logo The original Jeep was built by Ford for the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1941 the Willys CJ became the first civilian Jeep. In 1953 Kaiser bought Willys and in 1963 renamed it the Kaiser-Jeep. In 1970 Kaiser sold out to American Motors and in 1987 AMC sold their rights to the Jeep name to Chrysler. In 1998 Chrysler merged with Daimler-Benz. |
