1932 Hupmobile Hupp completed his first car, the Model 20 Runabout, in 1909. His goal was to make a car that everyone could affordable and the Runabout became very popular because it also was well made and had a lifetime warranty. Hupp introduced more models in the 1920s and then he acquired the Chandler Motor Car Company in 1928. The fifth place winner at the 1932 Indianapolis 500 race was a Hupmobile. Hupp survived the Great Depression by making top quality cars but a union strike in 1937 was too costly and he closed his doors in 1940. |
