It is a 1979 FIRST SERIES MAZDA RX 7 with the WANKEL ROTARY ENGINE. After having this vehicle in our program for the last 6 years, We are privileged to present this car on behalf of the previous sole ONE OWNER, Rowan P. Alexander, Colonel US ARMY (Ret.) In May of 2005, He donated this car to the Vehicle Preservation Society in furtherance of our mission to promote awareness and preserve special interest vehicles for future posterity and to secure a proud new owner after our Society’s presentation term of this car. It is the FIRST PRODUCTION YEAR of the MAZDA RX 7 SPORT COUPE. As originally equipped it has a factory original WANKEL ROTARY ENGINE. In it’s present condition, It is quite a unique and relatively RARE little sport car. It was purchased NEW in San Diego exclusively as his wife’s driver. The Silver Metallic paint is in good condition with some minor blemishes. It is a straight, classy, light, fast and sporty coupe It has always been garaged. CLEAN and REPAINTED TO ORIGINAL in 1997. Original manufacture date is 1979. The current ARIZONA TITLE IS CLEAR. Serious bidders: This car is very nice. VIN# SA22C525922 Vehicle DETAILS Driven by the owner’s wife SINCE NEW. There is NO serious deferred maintenance, other than the A/C which is in place, but non-op now. Also, the car would benefit from new rear struts. Any expense incurred would be basically elective and cosmetic. LAST READ of the Odometer showed 14,904. TRUE MILEAGE is 114,904. IMPORTANT FACT: The engine was replaced with an ORIGINAL MAZDA factory remanufactured NEW ROTARY ENGINE in March 1994 at 86,426 miles. Presently, the actual engine mileage is under 30K (on the engine) at this time. The vehicle passed the last California SMOG Certification before being transferred to Arizona and is not modified to preclude future CALIFORNIA certification again. Ownership documents are available to prove SINGLE ownership since until donation to the Vehicle Preservation Society. The body is very nice. Two minor rear body repairs were professionally performed in 1983 and 1997 and no evidence of those repairs is apparent other than a newer year rear bumper. ALL glass is excellent.
