1966 Ford Anglia 105E Super The Ford Anglia was built in England between 1939 and 1967, when it was replaced by the Ford Escort. The first Anglia was known as the "E04A" and production started at the beginning of WWII. It was a basic car offering few options and most were black. It was imported to North America in 1948 with slight design changes however production stopped soon after. In 1949 the "E494A" was introduced. It was another modest vehicle with a top speed of 57 mph. The last Anglia E494A was built in 1953. Ford introduced the all new Anglia "100E" in 1953 and claimed to be the least expensive car in the world. Sales were good until it was canceled in 1959. The next Ford Anglia was the "105E" model that came out in 1959 and then the Anglia "123E" Super joined it in 1962. Production of the Ford Anglia stopped in 1967 after about 1.6 million had been made. |
