Offered for sale is one of the most iconic, classic, and desireable fire engines produced during the golden age of fire apparatus. This Mack is equipped with the reliable 707 Thermodyne gas engine and a 4 speed transmission. Gearing is low, so top speed is roughly 45 mph. Manual steering and hydrovac assisted brakes. Hale 1000 gpm pump is functional and runs quietly as I have personally pumped it myself. The truck runs and drives well, however the clutch is riding high and needs adjustment or possible replacement. Body is solid and had an amateur paint job roughly 20 years ago that is showing it's age. Rust was repaired in the hose body behind the rear wheels. The booster tank has been removed and oak benches are in it's place for passengers in the low height hosebed. Siren and warning lights work. The apparatus comes well equipped with loose equipment such as suction hoses, ladders, pike pole, adapters, extinguishers, axes, a strainer, etc. Some of the chrome on the truck was redone by myself about 10 years ago. Speedomter does not function and has not since we purchased the truck more than 12 years ago. Amp, temperature, and oil pressure gauges do function. All tread on the 6 tires is deep. This truck is an excellant candidte for a restoration. During 2008 we replaced the master cylinder, hydrovac booster, and brake lines. We also changed the oil in the transmission, rear end, and pump transmission as well. The carburetor was rebuilt at the same time. The truck needs some wiring for the spotlights, hosebed lights and possible the headlights which only recently stopped working. Please cotact me with any questions you may have and I invite any interested parties to inspect it.
