1910 Automotive Drawings For Sale

Have for sale (2) original ink drawings of the first production steering gear system the Gemmer model "O" worm and roller steering gear. Gemmer Manufacturing Co. Of Detroit, Mich. originated in 1907 as as an engine manufacturer before deciding to build steering gear systems. In 1910 they produced the model "O" steering gear. The first drawing is the original sales drawing that the salesmen ran blueprints of to take to potential auto companies to sell there steering gear systems. The second drawing is the original production drawing of the 1910 Colby Motor Car steering gear assembly. The Colby Motor car was built in Mason City, Iowa where one is on display there in the Kinney Pioneer Museum. These drawings are hand drawn ink on rag vellum paper and are "D" size 24" X 36" and are in excellent condition. In 1939 the Gemmer Gear Co. had a fire that destroyed all records; these are the only original vintage drawings that survived the fire. The Gemmer building although in poor condition, still stands in Detroit, Michigan today. Gemmer produced steering systems for Major auto companies still known today as well as many others of yesteryears gone by. Gemmer gear was acquired by TRW Ross Gear Co.
