Description
Presented for sale is a 1963 'Principality of Monaco' Limited Edition Landau. Sometimes referred to by Ford as the 1963 ½ Thunderbird, since they introduced it mid-production year, is a limited run of 2000 units. Number 1 was presented to Prince Ranier III of Monaco. You may not remember him so much as the most elegant Princess Grace (Grace Kelly). You recall, Hitchcock's "Rear Window" or "To Catch a Thief," to name a couple movies starring Grace Kelly. The understanding is that Prince Ranier and Princess Grace herself had a significant hand in fashioning the color scheme of the Monaco.

All models were automatic transmission and with Ford's powerful Z-code engine -- a mighty 390 c.i. 300 hp 4BBL V-8. This engine was only two steps down from the giant 427.

This limited Edition Landau is #1994/2000, trimmed in Rose Beige and White. Carpet, lower door trim, dash, and vinyl Landau top are all in Rose Beige, while the exterior paint, interior seats, center console, steering wheel, and headliner are all done in white. Dash and instrument panel are all presented in rosewood finish. On the ground are Kelsey-Hayes chrome spoke wheels.

#1994, Ser. # 3Y87Z149120 is a 2 owner car. The first owner sold or traded it in excellent condition to a Pennsylvania dealership who sold the car to its current owner in Gatonia, SC. When purchased, the title showed 42,570 miles. Today 43,638 miles shows on the odometer.

The car has been well-kept and maintained over its last 10 years and driven the thousand plus miles to maintain good running condition. Consequently, the mechanics of this car are in top order. It runs strong, smooth, and quiet, does not smoke, brakes well, and accelerates as you would expect of a big 390 4BBL.

The car is cosmetically strong as well. Very good paint and interior. All external emblems are present and in good shape. The top is showing minimal wear at the seams, there are a few very small dings in the side panels, but the paint is good with no cracking or scratches. Carpet and headliner are like new. Dash is still very presentable. Instruments are bright and all work. Close inspection shows minor pitting beginning to appear on some of the bezels and interior metal trim. There is one 3" split in the dash pad. Visors are still strong and stay in position. Seats covers have been replaced in proper white vinyl.

All in all this is a superb, very clean driver quality car. The car can easily be maintained as such or with a little effort and nominal expense, this car can be brought up to show quality.

We are available to answer all questions. The car is available for inspection in Gastonia, SC most any time by appointment. Offers invited
