Ford Company History (Continued from top)

Ford Logo

Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, in June of 1903 and produced the first Model T Ford truck in 1917. The company started in a converted wagon factory and by 1960 was one of the 'Big Three' (along with General Motors and Chrysler), dominating the American market.

Ford is said to have started the industrial revolution by introducing the assembly line method of producing cars which delivered materials to worker work stations by conveyors for the first time. As a result, efficiency and quality were improved, costs were reduced and worker skills became less important.
