Own a special piece of not just Corvette history, but automotive history, with this EXTREMELY low mileage 1990 ZR-1, proudly presented and offered for sale by Blue Marlin Motors USA!
The ZR-1 Corvette was a project with one goal in mind: to be the fastest car in the world. To do this, GM enlisted the help of Lotus, which they had recently purchased. Together, they built and designed the LT5 engine – a radical dual overhead cam 32 valve V8 that produced 375 horsepower. The LT5 is incredible. Nothing has been able to match its level of smoothness and performance before or since. In fact, GM was so proud of this engine that they had a test for it. The LT5 was said to be so smooth that you could balance a nickel on top of the engine, start it, and the nickel would not fall.
The ZR-1 also had special bodywork that distinguished it from the regular Corvette. The rear fascia was 4 inches wider, a noticeable difference, to accommodate the absolutely massive 17x11” rear wheels. In 1990, the square tail lights and 3rd brake light mounted atop the rear hatch glass were also ZR-1 exclusives.
But that isn’t what makes this particular car special. Sure, the performance, the history, and the engineering that went into the ZR-1 makes them all special cars in a certain historical context. This car, having travelled just 3,013 miles, is a literal time capsule. Opening the door to this car is a genuine trip back to late 1989, when it was built. Sit in the extremely supportive (and highly adjustable) power leather bucket seats and gawk as this ZR-1 envelops you. The interior is so clean that all of the letters are present and accounted for on all of the switchgear, with much of it appearing as if fingers have never touched the surface.
Under the hood is the same story. Original Bilstein shocks are present on all four corners, the original spark plug wires are still on all eight cylinders, and the hood even still has the writing on it from the assembly plant. You will not find a ZR-1 in such pristine condition anywhere else. All of the literature, the leather-bound book, the original VHS tape, and two un-opened cassette tapes detailing the features of the ZR-1 are also present and accounted for. Additionally, the original build sheet, dealership purchase order, and even the window sticker have all been laminated and will go with the car.
Owned by a serious collector, this particular 1990 ZR-1 is beyond “collector quality” or “investment quality.” This car would be right at home in any museum, or even the GM Heritage collection. So if you want to own a piece of history, come on down to Blue Marlin Motors USA and bring this one home today!
